Sly and the Family Stone, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, bring on the funk. The first time I heard Uptown Funk (Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars) it was love. While watching the video my son, Ian, and I attempted a few Mars moves anticipating wedding receptions for years to come.
Adding to the fun, check out A. Maceo Smith New Tech High School’s version:
Are you a fan of funk? What music has you dancing? Are you ready to grace the wedding reception floor?
We’re ready. Don’t believe me just watch 😀 ~~~~~~~~ Angie Mc
I absolutely LOVE this song, it’s very catchy!! ..and the clip is SUPERB!! Makes one want to jump up and dance 🙂

It’s a song that I don’t mind getting stuck in my head, too 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.

I’ve been a fan of funk as long as you have, Angie McFly, Sly! Boom Chakalalalaka! Come on and Dance to the Music. Everybody is a Star!!
I have had the pleasure of dancing my ass off live (with a reporter’s pad in one hand and a pen in another) in concert to George Clinton and the P-Funk All-Stars and Maceo Parker and, wait for it … James Brown! The Godfather of Soul was old, mind you, but he was the Godfather of Soul!

I’m jealous! And so happy you chimed in here, Mark. Wow!!!!!!
My folks gave me a wonderful gift recently. To vinyl albums that I have framed. One is Al Green’s Let’s Stay Together. The other is Sly and the Family Stone Greatest Hits! Boom Chakalakalaka!

Definitely a lot of funk going on here. I love Bruno Mar’s style and sound. This song has a Gap Band type vibe going on. I think we all need to get on down and party! Thanks Angie 😀

Right Sylvester?! What I love about Mars is that he takes old school and makes it fresh for this generation. Total swag, as one of my teams would say. And where is that virtual WordPress dance party when you need it? 😀

I totally agree! Bruno is a refreshing voice in today’s music industry. WordPress needs to get on the ball with that virtual dance party! 🙂

You’re welcome Yvette! And you are so right. Mars put on one of my favorite Super Bowl halftime shows. He even beat out Bruce Springsteen who I absolutely adore!

well Bruce was a little before my time – or just never in my genre – but I do love a few of his songs from the radio play and many remind me of the 80’s, y know?

Bruce was before during and after my time because I grew up in Pennsylvania near Jersey, The hot bed of The Boss fandom 🙂

haha! I like that – before – during and after – and well the biggest memory I have is being in Canada – and having these Canadian guys flirting with my friend and I – but they were kinda fun – anyhow, when we were talking they asked – “do you like BORN in the uuuu sass aaa” – real loud like too – but that song was so huge – and truly Americana – 🙂
