12 Values for Happiness in Family Life. #quote

It was a duh moment. While making a simple blog template change, I decided that I needed more; I needed a plan.

If I want a world filled with family happiness for all, then I need more than a vision.  If I want to claim and share happiness with truth, humor, and grit, then I need more than a mission.

The MPA geek in me went to work and pounded out this blog’s core values. Take a look.

~~~~~~~~
Be brave. Love and care for yourself. Be happy.
Moral excellence comes about as a result of habit. We become just by doing just acts, temperate by doing temperate acts, brave by doing brave acts. ~ Aristotle
Build character by thinking clearly, feeling deeply, and doing what is right.
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. ~ Martin Luther King Jr.
Choose a positive lifestyle of engagement and ongoing education to build community and increase personal satisfaction.
Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Philippians 4:8
Marry to love, commit, unite, create children, and grow.
There is nothing more admirable than two people who see eye-to-eye keeping house as man and wife, confounding their enemies, and delighting their friends. ~ Homer
Parent with confidence, guidance, and sacrifice.
To maintain a joyful family requires much from both the parents and the children. Each member of the family has to become, in a special way, the servant of the others. ~ Pope John Paul II
Earn friendship through reciprocity, generosity, and fun.
There is nothing on this earth more to be prized than true friendship. ~ Thomas Aquinas
Contribute to community by building up a group from within and reaching out to those in need.
The nation doesn’t simply need what we have. It needs what we are. ~ Edith Stein
Provide an organized, attractive, and welcoming home as a safe haven from life’s storms.
Home is the nicest word there is. ~ Laura Ingalls Wilder
Value, manage, and allow time to unfold.
If you don’t have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over? ~ John Wooden
Perform to the best of your ability toward an objective standard of excellence.
Start by doing what’s necessary, then what’s possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible.
~ Francis of Assisi
Face challenges, struggle, and fail with confidence that suffering is purposefulness.
Once you agree upon the price you and your family must pay for success, it enables you to ignore the minor hurts, the opponent’s pressure, and the temporary failures. ~ Vince Lombardi
 Love is the process, purpose, answer, and goal of life.
Even if a unity of faith is not possible, a unity of love is. ~ Hans Urs von Balthasar
Crafting this blog’s core values was a formidable and fun task, especially adding favorite quotes. I consider this a draft-in-progress and will turn it into a page soon. How will it hold up during the coming year of blogging? Very well, I do believe.
What are your core values for your blog? What is your favorite life value? Does your family share common values? Do you have a favorite quote that speaks to your values?
I’m off to enjoy a night out with my dashing Dave and JP. Have a weekend filled with your highest values! ~~~~~~~~ Angie Mc
  1. This is a brilliant idea that illustrates your desire to seek out and share goodness with the world. This post reminds me of the film “Jerry McGuire” (“it was just a mission statement…”) and has inspired me to write my own, if not for my website, for my life.
  4. I really like the new format – and one suggestion (but it is just my opinion) but I personally love when blogs have the “most recent” post widget somewhere – sometimes it helps me to peruse the last 5 better – but actually here – just coming to your home page I was able to scroll and see them – so it was so easy to navigate – 🙂 have a great day my friend
