Sittin’ on the dock of the bay and 2014. #Lifestyle #Music #Relationships

I asked my newlywed daughter what music she is listening to these days. She said, “Michael and I like ‘Sittin’ on the dock of the bay.” When I wrote Let Her Go two weeks ago, I mentioned they would return home for Christmas. They are healthy, happy, and fun. They are thoughtful, kind, and soulful. This song fits the simple elegance of their new life together.

Because Sittin’ On The Dock Of The Bay is a classic, I feel silly saying anything about its musicality.  Otis Redding’s smooth and effortless voice gently calls me to stop and sit and watch.  The lyrics are sad, hopeful, waiting, in the middle of a story.  The instrumentals perfectly parallel and compliment both.

As 2013 has come to an end, we’ll stop , sit, watch, be a little sad, hope and wait as our family’s story continues to unfold.  And I’ll dream, set goals, and plan for the 2014.  No wastin’ time.

How will you transition from 2013 to 2014?

Happy New Year to you & yours ❤ ~~~~~~~~ Angie Mc

  1. I love that song! I remember it from when I was a little thing. It was a huge hit where I grew up (the SF Bay Area). Sadly, Otis Redding passed away just before the song was released. You are absolutely right – no wastin’ time!

Blessings to you in the new year. I’m so glad you’ve been able to have such a nice visit with your baby girl. 🙂

    • I love SF ❤ How lovely that your grew up in the Bay Area, Ness. My daughter & her husband honeymooned there 🙂

And thanks for your blessings; I gladly accept and send my own your way! Now with the big holiday plans finished, what’s next on your to-do list?

      • We start back to our regular routine on Wednesday; I’m looking forward to it! And I hope to finish my home office. The bones are there but the finishing details will take some effort on my part 🙂

    • Oh my, I just added 2 walls and an entry (no actual door) to the front of my open living space! It’s painted, so now to the decorating and organizing 🙂

  2. I like that one. Always have. Growing up in the bay area I can remember hearing it ooze through the tinny speakers over AM radio, and no matter how many times they remaster it, it still sounds that way to me.
