When my boys ask for more vegetables, chilled vegetable soup mind you, I say, “Have as much as you like, handsome men” This soup is a winner.
After checking out several recipes, I started with this super easy gazpacho from Ina Garten. Then I added some spice from Alton Brown’s gazpacho, pictured. I look forward to using fresh tomatoes in place of tomato juice like in Chef John’s gazpacho and creating variations to include ingredients such as roasted vegetables, watermelon, crab, cauliflower, and grapes. Not all in the same recipe :D.
What new foods are you enjoying? What are your favorite spring foods? Do you enjoy cold soups?
Hope your day is delicious ~~~~~~~~ Angie Mc
I think you’d enjoy Russian cold soup okroshka.

Talk about a recipe with endless creative possibilities! Do you make your own? Pita Jungle makes a great one, YUM! Love gazpacho, you and Ina Garten too 😀

I am very open about my food tastes but I have never been able to get into Gazpacho.

Vic, when I had gazpacho as a young adult, I was not impressed. I may have had a bad version or maybe my tastebuds have changed. Who knows, maybe you’ll catch the Gazpacho bug too 😀

I do make it. I don’t think I have any secret ingredients. It’s just a basic recipe plus a few drops of hot sauce.

The new foods (not really new, just hadn’t eaten it in a while, so I guess it would be, “like-new” lol) I’ve been enjoying seems to be a variety of bruschetta. Postinos is making me happy right now and have taken the lead thus far. That and my homemade Pralines 😋

Mmmmm bruschetta. Pralines?! My grandmother from the south used to make them…and Divinity. So rich, so yummy. I miss her ❤

I’ve never gotten into gazpacho…I think i’ve only tried it once. You’ve inspired me to give it another try. I love the idea of watermelon in it! This will be fun to try when it gets hot! Thanks!

Oh good, I’ll be curious to see if you like it now. And the watermelon?! Yes, please 😀

I have not eaten chilled soup, Angie McFly. It does not sound appealing to me. I am a hot soup guy.

I never ate chilled soup until I moved out west, Mark. It took some time to acquire a taste for it. I still eat my borscht hot 🙂

I LOVE gazpacho. I don’t have a go-to recipe because a restaurant nearby serves the best dang version of it I’ve ever tried. Of course I have garlic breath for days afterwards…..

Oh, Barbara, I’m dying to know what makes it so great! My local restaurant fave adds golden raisins to theirs, which sounds strange but really works! And I won’t mind your garlic breath if you won’t mind mine 😀

No, I love the addition of raisins in certain savory things. Anyway, my mystery gazpacho doesn’t seem to contain anything extraordinary. Heavy on cilantro and lime, perfectly seasoned, with a big dollop of sour cream on top. We go to this restaurant sometimes just to get that lovely goblet of soup. (Presentation matters!)

Cilantro and presentation…just what I needed to hear. I feel the need to go and get some pretty bowls to match my gazpacho feast.
