A fine quotation is a diamond on the finger of a man of wit, and a pebble in the hand of a fool. ~ Joseph Roux #quote
I expect little out of a quote and that’s why I enjoy them. Living a complicated life has made me grateful for simple and sublime things.
A quote can concisely capture truth and emotion. It can inspire, reassure, and delight. A few quotes change the world and many more change a moment.
While I don’t talk in quotes, they are easy to share in writing. A gift. A diamond. Online they can give people a place to meet easily, comfortably.
A quote can be fleeting, read within seconds and gone. Or it can settle into a soul and help it grow.
What is your take on quotes? Are they overused, cliché, boring? Are they motivational, energizing, challenging? Something else or in between? Do you have a favorite quote?
I’m off to relax with the family. Something about a lot of football 🙂

I’m with you, Andy! Truth tho is that I could never remember quotes even when I was young. Or jokes. Sigh 😉

A quote to me is shaded differently, Angie McFly, not so much representing a placard to live by, but instead a snippet of a person’s persona to advance their story or platform. You know, the journalism thing. 🙂

Agree with Mark. A good quote is a jumping off point for me. I often get an idea, then go looking for a quote to frame the thought.

Me too, Van. And sometimes I go looking for one quote…but another quote catches my mind or heart and I move with it.

Another charming and uplifting post. Your blog is a breath of fresh air. I love quotes, they can shift the moment, lighten a load, bring a smile…here is a
favorite from Abraham Lincoln, “Most folks are as happy as they make up their mind to be.”

I’m laughing, Angie. You are indeed the first to call me an awesome chef. Three of my blogging friends have read my statement of “nothing more than three ingredients and one is the microwave” so many times, they sent me the 4 ingredient recipe book. It has some great recipes in it, btw. I have your message and thanks for the great info and yes, so helpful. Have a wonderful weekend.
